There exist two types of tests depending on the use that wants to be given to the obtained information:

Informative or Private Test:
The result is communicated to the person who requests the test. Participants are not identified, as the test doesn’t have legal validity, and is totally confidential.

Legal test:
The result can be used as evidence in judgments. Identification of all the participants and the follow-up of the chain of custody during the whole process is needed to guarantee the impossibility of manipulation of the samples. The Legal Test differs from the Informative one because, besides reporting, forces the participants to accept the results obtained by legal route, helping to solve cases related to civil and penal law, in which supposed progenitors need to prove or to deny their biological paternity for different motives (inheritances, divorces, familiar regrouping, etc.).
